Zelma Kinkade, 80, of Brewster, died Saturday, December 31, 2016, at Citizens Medical Center, in Colby, KS. She was born March 22, 1936, in Brewster, KS, to Levi and Clarice (Dillinger) Berry. She graduated from Brewster High School in 1954. Zelma met Leonard Kinkade at Bea’s Café, where she was a waitress, and married him on June 6, 1954. Four children were born to this union. Zelma cooked at the Brewster School for many years. She also worked at Unitec and retired from ADM, formerly Reid Grain Elevator. She was a member of the Brewster Community Church, where she was active in many ways. She also enjoyed supporting many different missions’ organizations, working at the Senior Center and keeping active in the community.
Zelma was preceded in death by her parents; brother Curtis, sister-in-law Lorraine and bother Clarence.
She is survived by her husband Leonard; her children, Kenneth and Ralph, of Brewster, Konnie (Kennan) Racette, Oakley, KS and Kelly, Livingston, MT; five grandchildren, Laura Kahle, April Kinkade, Zack Racette, Michelle Kinkade and Molly Glassman and 10 great grandchildren.
Visitation will take place from 5-7:00 p.m. CST Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at the Brewster Community Church. The funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. CST Wednesday, January 4, 2017, also at the church.
