Virginia Kay “Ginger” Reeves, 66, of Atwood, died Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at the Good Samaritan Center, in Atwood. She was born December 19, 1949, to Kay L. and Connie (Kay) Reeves. Ginger attended Atwood Grade School and then moved to Topeka to be part of the Kansas Neurological Institute. She then moved to Smith Center and worked for 20 years, in the county nursing home, before moving back to Atwood, to be close to her parents. Ginger worked for her dad and later worked for My Place, Park Hill and at the Good Samaritan Center. She was part of the Prairie Developmental Center in Atwood and resided at one of the PDC group homes for 16 years. She loved being a part of all her great-nieces’ and nephews’ lives, enjoyed her church camps, PDC activities and country music. Ginger was a cheerleader with the PDC and won awards for cheerleading at the Special Olympics. She also loved supporting the Rawlins County Buffaloes sports programs, attending all the football and basketball games.

Ginger was preceded in death by her parents and grandnephews, Elijah Sayre, Aden Reeves and Scout Buell.

Survivors include her brothers, Dick and wife Debbie, of Clay Center, KS and Jim and wife Lyn, of Atwood, KS; nieces and nephews, Amy Reeves, of Albuquerque, NM, Hayley McKnelly and husband Mike, of Omaha, NE, Jake and wife Sarah, of Manhattan, KS, Sierra Phillips and husband Craig, of Rolla, MO, Brianna Buell and husband Lee, of Kansas City, MO, Shandi Sayre and husband Mike, of Atwood and Spencer and wife Morgan, of Bird City and grandnieces and grandnephews, Kya, Luke ,Benjamin, and Mathew McKnelly, Orrin, Mostyn, Praise, Sasona, Berwynn, Washington, Valor, and Calla Phillips, Isabella, Bryant, Nigel, Abigal, and Lucy Buell and Draven, Malachi, Titus, Judah, and Abner Sayre.

Cremation was chosen and a memorial service will take place at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 25, 2016 at the United Methodist Church, in Atwood. Memorials are suggested to the Atwood Good Samaritan Center or Atwood Prairie Developmental Center, in care of Baalmann Mortuary, PO Box 391, Colby, KS 67701.
