Viola M. Janousek, daughter of Henry and Mary (Horinek) Chleborad was born June 7, 1931 on the family farm, south of Atwood, Kansas. She entered into rest December 21st, 2017, at the age of 86.
She attended Fairview country school and graduated from Atwood High School in 1949. Viola attended cosmetology school in Denver and worked in Colorado for 2 years before returning to Atwood, Kansas to continue her career.
Viola was united in marriage to Jerome Janousek on January 17, 1955 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Atwood, Kansas. They made their home on a farm northwest of Atwood. This union was blessed with four children; Colleen, Zita, Douglas, and Natalie.
She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, rural Atwood; V.F.W Auxiliary, Stratton NE; American Legion Auxiliary, Atwood and Catholic Workman #74. Volunteered at the Good Samaritan fixing hair and had a passion for gardening, wood working and craft projects. She also loved playing solitaire.
Preceding her in death were her husband Jerome; her parents, Henry and Mary Chleborad; daughter-in-law Diane Janousek; Son-in-laws, Mark Mason and Rex Smith and a sister Vivian Feagins.
Survivors include her children, Colleen Smith , of Goodland, KS, Zita Mason, of Wichita, KS, Natalie and her husband Mike Sieber, of Ohiowa, NE and Douglas Janousek, of Lincoln, NE; nine grandchildren, Jandira, Zebulon, Spencer Smith, Derik and Ryan Arnold, Kelly Spelllman, Matheau, Mason, and Tregan Sieber; seventeen great grandchildren; brother Clarence Chleborad and wife Valerie, of Atwood; sisters, Elizabeth Pochop, of Atwood, Kansas, Rose George and her husband Al, of Santa Ana, California and Mary Russel, of Redding, California, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relative and friends.
Visitation is 4-6:00 p.m. Thursday, December 28, 2017, at Baalmann Mortuary, Atwood, with a Vigil service at 6:00 p.m. Funeral mass is at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 29, 2017, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, rural Atwood, with burial in the church cemetery.
