Vernon Doonan

Send Flowers Vernon L. Doonan, Jr., 69 passed away on December 3, 2018 after a long illness.  He was born to Vernon L. Sr. and Doris (Cook) Doonan on November 16, 1949 in Great Bend, KS.  Vernon graduated from Great Bend High School and attended Fort Hays State.  After his schooling, he married Marcia Hiller and to this union a son was born.  He moved to Colby in 1979 and took the job of night mechanic with UPS which he held for almost thirty years.  He married Belinda Stickel on June 21, 1991 in Colby. Vernon was an avid Mopar fan and loved attending Nationals, swap meets and car shows.  He never met a stranger, and would help anyone and was just an all-around good man.  This family and friends will greatly miss him. Survivors in clude his wife Belinda, one brother Larry (Karen) Doonan of Rockport, TX, one sister Eileen(Gerald) Herrman of Great Bend, KS. son Brian (Nichole) Doonan, Step-son Michael Shannon, Step daughters Nicole Holub and Samantha Isenbar, 12 grandchildren and a host of other relatives. Funeral Services are scheduled for Monday, December 10, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Kersenbrock Funeral Chapel -  745 S. Country Club Dr. - Colby, Kansas.  with a luncheon following at the United Methodist - 950 S. Franklin Ave. - Colby, KS 67701. Visitation: 4pm - 6pm, Sunday, December 9th at Kersenbrock Funeral Chapel - Colby, KS Burial will be at Great Bend Cemetery - Great Bend, KS Memorials are suggested to the Prairie Museum or Colby Health and Rehap , Colby, KS
