Send Flowers VERLE DEAN “BROOKS' JACKSON Verle Dean “Brooks'' Jackson was born January 12, 1933 in Studley, KS, to Millard O. and Edith Dean Jackson. He passed away at his home July 22, 2016 in Colby, KS, at the age of 83. He attended school in Norton, KS. He then joined the U.S. Navy. He lived many years in Philadelphia, PA where he had children, Robert and James Jackson. He also had another son Jeremy Jackson Gordon. He moved to Colby, KS where he worked as a mechanic at Hiett Motors. He married Cheryl in 1980. To this union, a daughter Lisa was born February 19, 1982. They also had two sons join the family, David and Daryl Arnberger. They moved to Texas in 1983, where Brooks received his air conditioning contractors license. They moved to California in 1986, where he worked in air conditioning. They returned to Colby in 1987 where Brooks worked at the Ramada Inn (Quality Inn) for many years and later at the Sleep Inn. Brooks was a man of many hobbies, that included billiards, horseshoes, poker, bowling, golf and telling jokes. He enjoyed watching sports, especially the Eagles, Oakland Raiders, and KC Royals. He also liked to read his newspaper, parked at the corner of 4 th & Franklin. He is survived by wife, Cheryl, children Lisa Jackson, David & wife Shirley Arnberger, Daryl Arnberger, Robert, and James Jackson and Jeremy Jackson Gordon. Grandchildren, Bruce & Brent Arnberger, Robbie, Stacy and Brian Jackson, Jade Jackson, and Boone Gordon. He is also survived by adopted grandchildren; Madison & Ben. Sister; Iris Smith, Brothers; Dallas Jackson, Gerald and wife Judy Jackson and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers Arnold, Buster, Lloyd, Eldin, David, and Delbert, 4 sisters, BettyJo Alexander, Pauline Shoemaker, Lois Bieber, and infant sister Dora Jean.
