Verla Lee Moser, 90, died December 9, 2024, at Prairie Senior Living Complex in Colby, Kansas. She was born to Willard and Florence Schertz on January 13, 1934, on the Schertz family farm north of Page City in Thomas County, Kansas.
Verla attended Page City schools, until her life changed forever when she met the love of her life, Archie Moser, who was at the time working on her father’s farm. The two were married on January 22, 1950, at the Schertz family farm, beginning a beautiful partnership that would last a lifetime.
Together, Verla and Archie purchased land south of Winona, where Archie built a farm that became the heart of their family’s life. Verla devoted herself wholeheartedly to being a farm wife, raising their seven children with love, resilience, and unwavering dedication.
Later in life, Verla demonstrated her determination and commitment to personal growth by returning to school to earn her GED, an achievement of which she was immensely proud. Her service extended beyond her family, as she became an essential part of her community by running the Russell Springs Post Office as well as recording the census across Western Kansas.
