Send Flowers Thresia Clara (Weber) Aschenbrenner, age 89, joined hands with the angels in Heaven on Wednesday night, June 21 st , 2017 at Citizens Medical Center in Colby, KS. Thresia was born September 4 th , 1927 on a farm southwest of Ellis, KS to John and Thresia (Augustine) Weber Sr. Thresia married the love of her life, Steven Edward Aschenbrenner on October 16 th , 1944 at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Ellis, KS. After getting married, they lived close to the Cedar Bluff Dam and had five children, Steve Jr., Phillip, John, Thresia Rose, and Tom. The government eventually bought their land, and at this time they moved to a farm five miles East of Brewster, KS. In 1966, after most of the kids were grown and out of the house, they adopted Nick and Rose Marie through the Catholic Adoption Agency, with the help of Father Ralph Aschenbrenner. Thresia lived on the farm her and Steve built the majority of her life. Steve had passed in 1998, she continued to live by herself on the farm they built together. Eventually, a few years after Steve passed, she moved to Colby, KS into her own apartment. She lived there until some things got to be too hard for her to handle by herself physically, she then moved to Fairview Estate Retirement home. Thresia’s final home would be Colby Health and Rehab. Some of Thresia’s joys in this world was being a farm wife, working wheat harvest, gardening, cooking amazing food everyday, tending to an assortment of animals, playing her guitar, harmonica, accordion, steel guitar, and organ. She had self taught all her musical talents. Growing up she would sit behind the barn and practice. Everyone always wanted to hear her yodel. Making quilts, sewing, and crocheting was a passion that she was so great at. Other hobbies were playing cards, bridge with her girlfriends, Rosary night every week, puzzles, making home made noodles, and reading. For many years she worked for the USPS Brewster, KS delivering im truly enjoyed life. Thresia was an extremely strong Catholic, and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Colby. She was proud to be a Eucharist Minister and was always praying for anyone and everyone. She was such an awesome role model to so many people. She was rather quiet in a group, but her holy presence was loud. Thresia was so proud to be a mom, she was an awesome mother to all her kids. Everyone always wanted to adopt her as their mom. Surviving children are Steve Jr (Carol) of Topeka, KS; Phillip (Phyllis) of Denver, CO; Tom (Juanita) of Brewster, KS; Nick (Lisa) of Kansas City, KS; and Rose Marie of Plano, TX. Two sisters, Katie Eberle of WaKeeney, KS; Helen Pfeifer of Manhattan, KS; also surving is a sister-in-law, Ann Aschenbrenner of Lawrence, KS; 14 grandchildren and 23 Great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Steven Edward in 1998, her son John in 1978, daughter Thresia Rose (Terri) in 1988, and grand daughter Kerrie in 2003. Visitation is Sunday, June 25 th at Kersenbrock Funeral Home from 2:00-7:00 pm, Rosary Vigil following at 7:00 pm. Services will be Monday, June 26 th at 10:30 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Colby. Final resting place will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetary in Colby, along side her loving husband Steven. Memorial donations of her request are to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
