Thomas A. Wessel, 74, of Oakley, died Wednesday, March 7, 2012. He was born June 24, 1937 to Joseph and Mary (Mindurp) Wessel in rural Thomas County. He served in the United States Army and was a member of the Knight of Columbus. He was a farmer and loved spending time with family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Ambrose Wessel, Frank Wessel, Bob Wessel and LeRoy Wessel; two sisters Mary Ann Seymour and Helen Nuessen.
Survivors include two brothers, David Wessel, Oakley and Charles (Kathy) Wessel, Scott City; two sisters, Bernadine Wessel, Seoul, Korea, and Rita Wessel, Hays.
Visitation will be 4-8 pm on Sunday, March 11, 2012 at Baalmann Mortuary, Oakley. Vigil and Rosary will start at 7 pm. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am on Monday, March 12, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Oakley. Burial will follow in St Joseph Cemetery, Oakley. Memorials are suggested to St Joseph Catholic School in care of Baalmann Mortuary, PO Box 204, Oakley, KS 67748.
