Thelma Ann Wieland, 84, of Colby, died Wednesday, September 30, 2020, at Citizens Medical Center. She was born in Hays, KS on February 14, 1936 to Bonaventure & Felicitas Kreutzer. She was the 2nd oldest of 12 children. Thelma and family moved to a farm close to New Almelo, KS. Upon graduation from Leoville, she was a nurse’s aide at the St. Thomas Hospital in Colby, KS.
Thelma met and married William Leo Wieland on April 4, 1956. They moved to their farm, South of Levant, and later moved to Colby. Thelma and Bill were lifetime farmers. Thelma also spent nearly 30 years driving a school bus for the Colby schools.
The Wielands had three children, JoAnn, Jeanette and Eugene.
Thelma was dedicated to her grandkids and great grandkids, to whom she was known as grandma Bill.
Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, Bonaventure and Felicitas Kreutzer; brothers, Norman and Joseph and her sister Charlotte.
She is survived by her husband Bill; children, JoAnn (Alan) Nichols, Jeanette Wieland and Eugene Wieland; siblings, Barbara Brancio, Betty Neale, Janet Harper, Caroline Hulka, Jeanie Stephens, Barney Kreutzer Jr., Joyce (Jerry) Howrey and Nancy Gibson; grandchildren, Stephanie (Brett) Mead, Thomas Wieland, Alicia Nichols and William Nichols; great grandchildren Hendrix, Zenni, Izadore, Nyxie, Eva and Olivia.
Visitation is 4-6:00 p.m. Sunday, October 4, 2020 at Baalmann Mortuary, Colby. Funeral Service is 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 5, 2020 also at the Mortuary, with burial in Beulah Cemetery.
