Thelma Nickel

Thelma Lorene Nickel, 81, of Atwood, passed away and entered into Heaven Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center in Denver, CO. She was born September 10, 1932 to Ralph and Clara (Hayes) Nickel in their home in Wichita County, KS. She was baptized in the Church of Christ in Scott City and attended grade school and high school in Scott County before graduating from Brown Mackie Business School in Salina, KS. After college she was a bookkeeper and accountant in Scott City and Atwood, KS. She was a member of C.W.F., long time member of the Business and Professional Women’s Association and the First Christian Church of Atwood. The loves of her life were her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Harold, Dick and Dewayne and sisters, Marie, Lois, Irene, Ilene, Bessie, Janice and Cecile.

She is survived by her daughter, Nikki Jo and Bill Finley, Colby; son, Craig Allan Nickel, Atwood; grandchildren; Shane and Kasandra Finley, Marc Finley, Stacy and Matt Horinek, Matthew and Rachel Finley, Lance Finley, Samantha and Jesse Mader and Jeff Nickel; great grandchildren; Josh and Alexandra Finley, Brock & Braydon Horinek, Conner, Heidi, Leah and Natalia Finley, Jett and Hunter Mader.

Visitation will be 2-7:00 p.m. Monday, February 17, 2014 at Baalmann Mortuary, Atwood. Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at the First Christian Church, Atwood.
