Terry Lee Kirk

Terry Lee Kirk, while surrounded by his family, joined his heavenly father on February 17, 2025, after a short illness. Terry was born to Kenneth and Betty “Maxine” Kirk on April 27, 1949, in Oakley KS. He was the oldest of three children.

Terry attended Tribune and Winona schools, Colby Community College, and then went on to finish his formal education at Fort Hays University with a degree in psychology.

Terry married his high school sweetheart Lanis Lewallen on August 9, 1970, in Winona KS. Terry and Lanis became active members of the Methodist church. Shortly after their marriage Terry joined the Army National Guard. When together with family you could often hear him reminiscing of those years. It was something he took great pride in. Upon returning home Terry and Lanis made their home ranching and farming alongside his parents, west of Winona. Terry and Lanis were blessed with three children, Shannon, Dana, and Kris.

If Terry was not in the shop working, you could often find him in the arena where he enjoyed roping with his friends and riding with his family. In later years he enjoyed collecting cars, restoration projects, and Harley motorcycles.

On the farm and in their travels, Terry would celebrate God’s glory, by praising His majesty, power, love, and the beauty of His creation. God’s glory is everywhere in the vastness of the universe, the intricate details of nature, and the love shared between people.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Kenneth and Maxine Kirk, parents-in-law, Robert and Jeannine Lewallen, and niece Ashton Kough,

Surviving family includes his beloved wife Lanis, sister Sheryl ( Mike) Kough of Russell Springs, sister Connie ( Roger) Kough of Colby, daughter Shannon (Steve) Dewey, and children Hunter (Joslyn) and their children, Brighum and Kaizley, and Tanner (Ashlyn), all of Cimarron, KS, daughter Dana (Mark) Penniman, and children Gracen and Luke of Hendersonville TN, son Kris (Mindy) Kirk and children, Dally, Shea and Kolt of Winona, and numerous nieces and nephews.
