Stephen Brock

Stephen W Brock, 78, of Apple Valley, CA, died October 7, 2020, in Fontana, CA. He was born September 1, 1942, to Gabriel W Brock and Ethel (Yates) Brock, in Colorado Springs, CO.



Steve grew up in Atwood, Kansas with his mom and step-dad Bud Hayes and spent many summers in Colorado with his dad before graduation from Atwood Community High School. He attended
college at Fort Hays State and received his bachelor's degree in business.



Steve married his high school sweetheart, Marlene Schandler in 1965. To this union three children were born. They lived in Kansas, Arkansas, Texas, Colorado, and California. Many friends were made along the way!



Steve worked as a department and merchandise manager for Montgomery Wards before managing Brock’s Crystola Inn, in Woodland Park, Colorado. Upon arriving in Apple Valley, CA, Steve was a broker and enjoyed selling property. He ended his career caring for students at St. Mary’s Regional Catholic School.



Steve was a wonderful husband, father, papa, brother, uncle, and friend. Heaven gained a loving man and we will miss his mischievous grin, warm hugs, and quick, witty nature.



He was preceded in death by his parents and step-dad; siblings, Lynda Murray, James Hayes, John Hayes and grandson Matthew Collins. He is survived by his wife, Marlene; children, Stephanie (Mark) Collins and their daughters, Ciara and Kassidy, Jeffrey Brock and his children, Kaelyn and Kade; and Jennifer (Bill) Hudson, their daughter Leah Meier and her son Easton; sister Nancy (David) Smith; several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends.



A memorial mass will be held Saturday, May 29, 2021 at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Church, Atwood, KS, followed by burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Atwood.
