Stanley D. Stephens, 63, of Oakley, died Monday, July 27, 2020, at his home. He was born December 6, 1956, in Oakley, KS, to Robert and Elsie (Suter) Stephens. Stanley married Lisa Kruse on June 18, 1982 and to this union they were blessed with four children. He was a farmer, cattleman and a welder. He proudly received the Century Farm Award from the Salina Diocese Rural Life Commission. Stan was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He served on the Grinnell School Board for 6 years and was a proud member of the NRA and GOP. Stan had a love for music, sports and following the weather report. He had a gift for writing letters and poetry. Above all, Stan had a love for his family and treasured being around his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Sheena Stephens and grandparents, John and Rose Stephens and John and Clara Suter.
He is survived by his wife Lisa; children, Sarah Bixenman, Marie “Angie” (Justin) Helus and Robert “Robbie” Stephens II; siblings, Sr. Judy Stephens, Roberta Jean (Jerry) Gormley, Mary Lou (Jerry) VanEaton, Bob (Cheryl) Stephens and JoAnne (Harold) Crispin and five grandchildren, Brogan and Harleigh Bixenman and Elsie, Vera and Jonny Helus.
Funeral Mass is 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 31, 2020, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Oakley, with burial in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Grinnell.
