Scott Wieland

Ronald Scott Wieland, 65 was born April 24, 1950 in Colby, KS to John F. and Ila Lee Wieland. Scott graduated from Colby High School, Colby Community College and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Kansas State University in Accounting. Scott accepted his first job out of college as an accountant at Cap Rock Feed Yard in Leoti, Kansas. In 1974 Scott decided to return to Colby and begin farming with his family. On January 25, 1975 Scott and Cathy Deaver were united in marriage in the Colby United Methodist Church. To this union two daughters were born. Coleena and husband John Woods, Manhattan, KS and Karen and husband Dr. Nels Lindberg, Great Bend, KS. Scott enjoyed spending numerous hours attending any and all Kansas State University ballgames and events. As much as Scott loved golf and Kansas State University, his love for his grandchildren and family were larger. Scott was above and beyond when it came time to be the “perfect papa” to Declan, Ryker, Caitlyn, Nash, MacKenzie, Matt and Josh. Scott was President of the NWKS Catbackers, served on the Kansas State University Foundation Board, Kansas State University Alumni Board, Colby City Council, Farm Bureau Resolutions committee and was the Thomas County Republican Chairman for several years. Scott passed away in Denver Colorado on Saturday August 15, 2015 after a courageous battle with leukemia. Scott was preceded in death by his parents and mother in law Minnie Deaver. He is survived by his wife Cathy of the home, daughters, Coleena and family, Karen and family, brother Denis Wieland (Diana) of Colby, sister Gera Lou Woofter (Wayne) of Hays, and father in law Dale Deaver of Levant.
