Ross Boyd Beamer, 87, of Oakley, died Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Hays Medical Center. He was born March 15, 1927 in Gove County, KS to Clinton Ross and Ethel (Gallion) Beamer. He married Joan Beckman on April 28, 1948 in Denver, CO and they had five sons. He served in the United States Navy from 1944-1946, on the USS Isherwood and USS Norris. He enjoyed farming and was a dairy farmer for over 40 years. Boyd was a member of the Oakley V.F.W. He liked to garden, bowl, play pool and cards until macular degeneration made him give these up. His later recreations were casinos and going to coffee at the local deli. Boyd loved his pets, one dog Penny and dozens of cats.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son Stewart Beamer, son Dennis Beamer; sisters, Leah Walz and Wilma Woodhouse.
He is survived by his wife Joan; sons David, Oakley, Richard, Bakersfield, CA, Steven, Grinnell, sister Geneva Brothers, Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren Chelsea Creekmuir, Jenny Briseno, Sarah Spencer, Jola Miller and Travis Beamer and seven great grandchildren.
Cremation was chosen, a Memorial Service will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 25, 2014 at Baalmann Mortuary. Family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the service. Burial will follow in the Oakley City Cemetery with Military Honors.
