Rosetta Barbara (Laverenz) Bremenkamp, 93, of Colby, went to be with her heavenly Father, Monday, June 5, 2017, at Citizens Medical Center, in Colby. She was born on February 4, 1924, to John and Anna (Delzeit) Laverenz, in Purcell, KS. She graduated from Highland High School in 1942, and then moved to Western Kansas with her parents after graduation. She married Raymond Bremenkamp on November 29, 1944. The couple had six children. They lived on the farm Southeast of Colby, until the fall of 1981, when they moved to Cumberland. They celebrated their 40th Anniversary in November of 1984 and Raymond passed away in April of 1985. Rosetta was a very hard working farm wife and mother. She loved the farm life. She loved the spring time when all the baby calves were born and she was out checking them every day. She would drive a truck during harvest and always had a meal ready. She loved working in her flower garden and always had African violets blooming in her house. She made clothes for herself and girls. She loved to crochet and always had a project or two beside her chair. She was famous for her angel food cakes, which her grandchildren called “scrap cakes.” Rosetta loved to bowl and participated in several state and national tournaments. After Raymond passed away she enjoyed taking bus tours from coast to coast. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish, the Daughters of Isabella and Handmaidens Prayer Group. In January of 2006, Rosetta moved from the farm to Colby. She had a heart of Gold. She had a quiet, humble and sweet nature, with a warm smile. Although, she would have loved to have had better health, she endured many years of physical suffering without complaining. She always kept her faith as the cornerstone and foundation of her life.
Rosetta was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond: infant daughter, Edith Ann; son, Raymond Jr.; great-granddaughter, Emily Bremenkamp; sisters, Ruthanna Falk and Loretta Mazanec and brother, John Laverenz.
