Rosella A. Turner-Theye, 89, of Colby, passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Colby Health and Rehab. Rosella was born April 29, 1926 in Scott County to James Wesley and Rosella June (Smith) Headley. She was the sixth of twelve children. On April 2, 1945, she married William Turner. To this union three children were born, a son Billy Ray and two daughters, Maxine Lynn and Elizabeth June. They lived in Brownell, KS for six years, and then moved eight miles north of Colby, to Ted Bourquin’s farm, where she worked as a house keeper, before moving to town in 1962. Rosella worked as a waitress at the Pyramid Cafe and also worked for Careful Cleaners, Murphy’s Café and Prairie Senior Living Complex, before retiring in 1998. She married Louis Theye on October 9, 1987 and through this union gained five stepchildren. Rosella kept herself busy knitting, crocheting, sewing and baking for her children and grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, William on April 4, 1984 and Louis on August 18, 2008; five brothers, Ruben, Clifford, Elmer, Charles and John, sister Zuella; stepdaughter Margaret Tayer and grandson Patrick James Turner.
Rosella is survived by her brothers, Jim Headley, Hamilton, TX and Duane (Judy) Headley, Brewster, KS; sisters, Uuella (Bell) Norton, Denver, CO, Melda Moore, Colby and Edie Harrington, Colby; children, Billy Turner, Maxine Turner and Elizabeth (Albert) Williams, all of Colby, KS; stepsons, Densel Theye, Dale Theye and Elroy (Lisa) Theye; stepdaughter Beth; twenty two grandchildren; thirty two great grandchildren and many adopted children, grandchildren and friends.
Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October, 7, 2015 at 2 pm at the Beulah Cemetery, Colby.
