Roseanna Stoney

Roseanna Viola Stoney, 90, of Herndon, died Monday, June 27, 2016, at the Good Samaritan Society, in Oberlin, KS. She was born September 23, 1925, in Circleville, KS, to Ralph and Theresa (Nadeau) Eby. Roseanna moved with her family to Atwood where she attended grade and high school, graduating with the class of 1943. Roseanna married Harvey Stoney on January 18, 1944, in Atwood, KS, and to this union four children were born. She worked with her husband, was a cook at the Herndon Schools and also babysat children for a living. Roseanna enjoyed crocheting, particularly afghans. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, in Herndon and belonged to the Christian Mother’s Altar Society.

Roseanna was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers; two sisters; one granddaughter and a great-grandson.

She is survived by her children, Lewis (Sue) Stoney, of Herndon, Larry (Debra) Stoney, of Herndon, Margaret (Clarence) Niermeier, Ludell and Mary Ellen Stoney, of McCook; sister-in-law’s, Marie Eby, Lebanon, OR and Iverna Eby, Goodland, KS; 15 grandchildren; 2 special grandsons; 24 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation is from 12:00p.m.-3:00 p.m. Friday, July 1, 2016 at Baalmann Mortuary, Atwood, and then from 4-7:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Herndon, with a Vigil at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 2, 2016, also at the church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
