Rosalind Gail Vacca, 86, of Colby, died Saturday, December 21, 2024. She was born on December 7, 1938, in Pueblo, CO to Wyeth and DuReece Porr. Gail grew up in Pittsburg, KS and graduated from Pittsburg High School. She met Frank from Frontenac when they were both out with other friends. The couple were united in marriage on February 7, 1959, in Frontenac, KS. They welcomed three children to this union. The family lived in Frontenac until moving to Colby in 1973. Gail studied business and accounting and had several jobs as a bookkeeper. After moving to Colby, Gail worked at the K-State Farm Management office doing income taxes for local farmers. She was employed there until her retirement.
Gail enjoyed staying active in her community. Her lifelong memberships included Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority, several Bridge Clubs, Sacred Heart Altar Society, Queen Mary Circle and Thomas County Historical Society. She and Frank enjoyed many years square dancing throughout Kansas. They also enjoyed traveling in their retirement and Gail was thrilled to get to attend a Rose Bowl Parade. In her spare time, Gail liked spending time flower gardening, watching performing arts, spending time with her family and going to events at the library.
Gail was preceded in death by her parents and sister Wyona Porr.
She is survived by her husband Frank; children, Brian Vacca, Stockton, KS, Becky (Jerry) Bricker, Lincoln, NE and Julie (Kent) Hahn, Stockton, KS; sister Pamela (Calvin) Beer, Pittsburg, KS and grandchildren, Austin Bricker, Abbey Vacca, Anna Hahn, Grant Vacca, Joel Bricker and Aaron Hahn.
The family will receive friends from 4-6:00 p.m., with a Vigil at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, December 29, 2024, at Baalmann Mortuary, Colby. Memorial Mass is 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 30, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Colby, with burial in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Pioneer Memorial Library or the Prairie Museum of Art and History and sent in care of Baalmann Mortuary, PO Box 391, Colby, KS 67701.
