Rosalie J. (Shull) Jacobs, 89, of Colby passed away October 31, 2024, at Citizens Medical Center in Colby, KS. She was born August 9, 1935, to Charles C. E. and Elizabeth (Kilian) Shull. She grew up on a farm near WaKeeney, KS. Her family moved to Colby after the Cedar Bluff Dam claimed their original homestead.

Rosalie graduated from Colby High School and later attended business school in Denver, CO.

On March 28, 1956, Rosalie married John W. Jacobs. They lived and farmed north of Winona and were blessed with six children, Lynn, Teresa, Denise, Suzanne, Jesse and Matthew.

Rosalie devoted her life to caring for her family and helping with the family farm. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed hosting large family dinners during the holidays and on special occasions. During harvest, she took pride in making and delivering delicious meals to the field, ensuring everyone was fed. Rosalie liked to attend auctions and sales to find special treasures to add to her collections. She had many hobbies including sewing, crocheting, gardening, silversmithing and leather working. She enjoyed her pets including a special kitty she invited into the farmhouse every morning so she could feed her a freshly fried egg.

Rosalie was preceded in death by her parents, Charles C. E. and Elizabeth Shull; husband, John W. Jacobs; brothers, Judson Shull and Earnest Shull; sister, Norma (Shull) Johnson; son-in-law, Rocky Cross, and great-grandsons, Taylor Cross and Hudson Kouba.

She is survived by her brother, Vernon Shull of California; sister-in-law, Judy Shull of Colby; children, Lynn (Pat) Jacobs of Junction City, Teresa (Van) Rogge of Kingfisher, OK, Denise Yount of Lincoln, NE, Suzanne (Dale) Herschberger of Colby, Jesse (Bethany) Jacobs of Osborne, Matthew (Kristal) Jacobs of Smithville, MO; grandchildren, John Rogge, Eric Rogge, Chris Jacobs, Jamie Roath, Dustin Herschberger, Crystal Luedke, Amanda Shaffer, Holly Cross, Melissa Cross, Sarah Kouba, Chance Jacobs and Audrey Jacobs; 15 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Tuesday, November 5, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Baalmann Mortuary, Colby. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at Beulah Cemetery in Colby. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Genesis Food Pantry or Redeeming Love Church and sent in care of Baalmann Mortuary, PO Box 391, Colby, KS 67701.
