Rolland Raye Rush, 82, died Wednesday, April 2nd, 2014 in Colby, KS. He was born October 28th, 1931 to Francis and Lela (Moses) Rush in Oak Hill, KS. The family resided in the Longford, KS area until 1937 when they moved to the Levant area where he farmed the majority of his life. Rolland graduated from Levant High School in 1949. He was married to Merna Alleman on a farm north of Levant on April 14th, 1952. They had three children-Neal, Lynn, and Lane. He was inducted into the service on October 22nd, 1952. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. He was released from active military service on October 21st, 1954. Rolland was preceded in death by his wife Merna, parents Francis and Lela, brother Orin, and sister Bertha. His surviving family includes Neal and wife Jolene of Brewster and their children Clint, Clay, Cayla, Cody, and Caitlan; Lynn and wife Cindy of Yukon, OK and their children Julie and Sarah; Lane of Colby, Laura of Colby and children Kynndra and Wade as well as 11 great grandchildren. Services will be held at Kersenbrock Funeral Home in Colby, KS at 10:30am, Saturday April 5th. Visitation will be Friday, April 4th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
