Rojelio Ochoa Jr. (Roy Jr. and Shredder Roy), 48, of Denver, CO, died Friday, June 17, 2016. He was born June 7th 1968 in Moline, Illinois to Rojelio R. Ochoa, Sr. and Graciela (Villarreal) Ochoa.
Roy grew up in Moline until the age of 10, when his family moved to North Platte, Nebraska. He attended Lincoln Elementary, Madison Middle School and graduated from North Platte High School in 1986. Roy worked as an inspector in general construction. He had an amazing passion for professional boxing, which inspired him to take up the sport. Furthermore, Roy became a Golden Glove Champion and also competed in the Olympic Trials. He was known for his heart of gold, generosity and was an inspiration to many.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Maria M. Villarreal and paternal grandparents Maria de Jesus Rayos and Mariano Ochoa.
Roy is survived by his children, Sophia Isabelle Lara (Andy Lara). of Grand Island, NE, Jeremy Rey, Juliana Sierra and Nicholas Jacob Ochoa, of Pueblo, CO; grandchildren, Giselle Lara and Axel Lara; maternal grandfather, Vidal V. Villarreal, of Cozad, NE; siblings, Eliazar H. Ochoa (Veronica Ochoa), of Lexington, NE, Robert R. Ochoa, of North Platte, NE, Chachi Ochoa (Leonel Loya), of Rexford, KS, Jerardo “Jerry” Ochoa ( Erika Ochoa), of North Platte, NE and Idalia “Yaya” Ochoa, of San Antonio, TX and 10 nieces and 7 nephews.
Cremation was chosen. A memorial service will take place at 2:00 PM on Wednesday June 22, 2016, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Colby, Kansas. Online condolences: www.baalmannmortuary.com
