Roberta Lynn “Birdie” Schutte, 56, of Colby, died Sunday, September 4, 2022, at Citizens Medical Center, in Colby. She was born January 30, 1966, in Kennewick, WA, to Albert and Cora (Gardner) Williams. Birdie received her high school diploma and went on to work at the Colby Free Press for 20 years. She had also worked at Fairview Estates in Colby. Birdie enjoyed fishing and going to garage sales. She especially loved Elvis. On July 20, 1986, Birdie married Otto “Butch” Schutte, Jr.
Birdie was preceded in death by her parents and husband Otto.
She is survived by her children, Roy (Leann) Williams, of Menlo, KS, Billy (Ashley) Turner, Gem, KS, Rosemary Rhan, Colby, KS and Otto Schutte, III (fiancé Holly Jannamon), of Colby, siblings, Kathleen (David) O’Brien, Moses Lake, WA, Natialene Schopf, Marysville, WA, Linda (Charles) Pointer, Sullivan, MO, and Albert Williams, Jr., Newton, KS; fiancé Steve Burdick, of Colby and eight grandchildren.
A celebration of life will take place at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, October 15, 2022, at the Gem Community Building, Gem, KS.
