Robert J. Robben, 78, of Colby, died November 1, 2013 at Presbyterian Saint Luke’s Hospital in Denver, CO. He was born November 6th, 1934 in Thomas County, KS to Augusta (Schwarz) and Lawrence Henry Robben. He spent the early part of his life working on the family farm outside of Oakley. He graduated Oakley High School in 1953. Robert married Marjorie Ann Wolf on October 19, 1957 at Immaculate Conception Church in Grinnell, KS. He wore many career hats in his life including: farmer’s son, beverage sales company employee and then owner, hydraulic repair and wrought iron welder and finally handyman, carpenter and memorial salesman. He enjoyed many hobbies including wood-working and cards, but his favorite was always golf… “As you walk down the fairway of life, you must smell the roses, for you only get to play one round.” – Ben Hogan
He was preceded in death by his parents; older brother Phillip, younger brother Mark, infant brother Daniel and infant son Joseph.
He is survived by his wife Marj, children Timothy and partner Dennis Farrell, Shawnee, KS, Clarris (Chris) Rundel, Topeka, KS, Craig ( Stacy) Robben, Littleton,CO and Aaron Robben, Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren Adam Rundel, Topeka, KS, Jack and Emily Robben, Littleton, CO; siblings Dennis (Geneva) Robben, Des Moines, IA, Ronald (Patricia) Robben, Hampton Bay, NY, Lawrence (Debbie)Robben, San Jose, CA and Kathleen (Lynn) Fulwider, Brewster, KS.
