Robert “Bob” Nemeth, 95, died Sunday June 18, 2017, in Atwood, Kansas.
Bob was born September 2, 1921 to Kolman and Elizabeth Grill Nemeth on a farm 5 miles west of Herndon, Kansas. He was baptized September 25, 1921 in the Trinity Lutheran Church north of Ludell, and on April 14, 1935 was confirmed in the same church. Bob attended Trinity Christian Day School.
On January 16, 1951, Bob was married to Geraldine “Gerry” Barenberg at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Herndon, KS. To this union three children were born: Gary, Cheryl and Rick. He lived with his family on the farm 4 miles northeast of Ludell until 1988 when he and Geraldine moved into a home in Herndon.
Bob was engaged in farming and ranching all of his life in the Ludell and Herndon areas. He was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Herndon and the Knights of Columbus. Bob served on the Herndon School Board and the Herndon Coop board of directors.
He enjoyed family life and his greatest interest was staying aware of any events happening in the lives of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He took so much pride and joy in each and every one of them and would light up when sharing stories about them.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Kolman and Elizabeth Nemeth; his sister, Hulda Frick and his son-in-law, Kenneth Timm.
He is survived by his wife Geraldine, of Herndon; son Gary, of Herndon; daughter Cheryl Timm, of Ludell; son Rick, of Ludell and Sheli Nemeth, of Larned; grandchildren, Melissa Rickford and husband Travis, of Hays, Jonathan Timm and wife Amber, of Ludell, Emily Green and husband Cedric, of Atwood and Nicolette Nemethm of Manhattan, KS; great grandchildren, Ashton and Olivia Rickford, Kennedy and Mason Timm, and Kinley Green; niece, Iva Lou Behnke and husband Jerry, of Indianola, NE; and nephew Dean Michel and wife Kay, of Denver, CO.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 21, at Baalmann Mortuary, Atwood. A Vigil service will be at 7 pm Wednesday June 21, at St Mary’s Catholic Church, Herndon. A mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m., Thursday June 22, at St Mary’s Catholic Church, with Father Gnanasekar officiating. Interment will be at St Mary’s Cemetery, Herndon.
