Robert S. “Bob” McLemore, 84, of Colby passed away February 6, 2025.

Born August 2, 1940, in Gracemont, OK, to parents Denver and Marie (Long) McLemore, the sixth of seven children. He grew up working with his parents on their cotton and peanut farm. Bob was baptized in the Lookeba Baptist Church. He attended Lookeba, OK High School and joined the Navy at 17. Bob came to Kansas on a harvest crew. He stayed after harvest, working on a bridge crew building I-70.

Bob and Lottie married on May 21, 1959. They had three sons, Robert W., Tom O., and Larry A.

Bob was, at heart, a salesman. Over his life he sold clothing at CR Anthony, sold insurance, was a farm worker, Colby Police Officer, worked for Blue Jay Drilling (water wells), went to auctioneer school, did seed sales, and sold farm machinery, livestock, and vehicles.

Bob enjoyed fishing, golf, which he took up in his later 50’s, their yearly family vacations in Colorado and music. Oklahoma friends came up several years for pheasant hunts. He loved visiting with friends and customers. The sale barns were his dream, he loved cattle and ranchers. Coming back to Colby he really liked his “shed- man cave” and his cats.

His siblings were, Orada (Arliss) Birge, Lee, Minnie Lois (Roy) Rodrick, Norma Rae Byrom, Denver Jr. and Roy (Linda) McLemore, all who predeceased him.

Surviving are his wife, Lottie; sons, Robert W, and wife Susan (Haselhorst), Tom, and Larry and wife Kim (Zant); grandchildren, Ryan and wife Samantha (Wolf), Brandon and wife Breanna (Elley), Blake and wife Lindsay (Champa), Lindsay and husband Shane Waterman, Taylor and husband Ben Jurney, Dylan and wife Madison (Roberts); 19 wonderful great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The Inurnment will be at Beulah Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Pickin’ on the Plains and sent in care of Baalmann Mortuary, PO Box 391, Colby, KS 67701. For information or condolences visit baalmannmortuary.com
