Robert “Bob” Losey, 76, of Grinnell, died Monday, March 21, 2022, at Gove County Medical Center, in Quinter. Bob was born December 26, 1945, in Anderson, IN, to William Houty “Bill” and Thelma (Rawlings) Losey. Bob’s father passed away when he was 2 years old. His mother then married James “Jim” Losey, who adopted him, and they moved to Gove County, KS.
Bob graduated from Gove High School in 1963. He then attended Fort Hays State University and enlisted in the Army in 1964. The majority of his time in the Army was spent in Germany. Upon return to Gove County, he married Jeanita Engel, in 1970. The couple settled in Grinnell and raised three sons. Bob farmed and ranched the remainder of his life.
While living in Grinnell, he served as mayor for 14 years, city council member for 10 years and served on the volunteer fire department. One of his greatest joys was his 1947 and 1948 Willy’s Jeeps.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; brother Bill and sister Sue Jones.
He is survived by his wife Jeanita, of Grinnell; three sons, Robert “Bob” and Helen Losey, of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; Troy and Monica Losey, of Salina, KS and Todd and Christin Losey, of Grinnell; seven grandchildren, Breanna, Ty, Aubrey, Logan, Levi, Lakyn and Jacob; great-grandchild, Clint and sister Wilma (Lloyd) Peterson, of Overland Park, KS.
Visitation is 5-7:00 p.m. Sunday, March 27, 2022, at the Immaculate Conception Parish Center, Grinnell, with a Vigil at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass is 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2022, at the Immaculate Conception Church, Grinnell, with burial in the Gove Township Cemetery.
