Rmelda Mae Shackelton, 94, of Oakley, died Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011. She was born Feb. 1, 1917 to John and Caroline (Khol) Smith in Garden City. She was a resident of McAllaster for 67 years were she ran Mae’s Place.
She is preceded in death by husband Lloyd Schackelton and two previous husbands; a son Clyde Charles Cook Jr.; a grandson Vernon Siruta; a granddaughter Shelly Farnell; three brothers and one sister.
Survivors include five daughters, Sylvia Rae Moore (Fred), of Phoenix, AZ, Carolyn Kae Wagner, Bloomfield, NM, Nancy Mae Evans (Tom), of Surprise, AZ, Cheryl Ann Shafer (Jerry), Denver, CO and Tamara Druann Cook-Unrien, Oakley; two sons, Bobbie Lee Cook (Betsy), Cornville, AZ and James Perry Cook (Barbra), Phoenix, AZ; a sister Elma Johnson, Surprise, AZ; 22 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 10:00 a.m., on Dec. 3, 2011 at Baalmann Mortuary, Oakley. Memorials are suggested to Rmelda Schackelton Memorial Fund in care of Baalmann Mortuary, P.O. Box 204, Oakley, KS 67748.
