Regina Eileen (Carver) Ostmeyer, 96, of Grinnell, died Tuesday, September 18, 2018 in Quinter, Kansas. Regina was born October 18, 1921 on the farm south of Campus, to Harleigh Dean and Ruth (Ringwalt) Carver. At the age of 9, she moved with her family to Oakley and was a 1939 graduate of Oakley High School. On November 25, 1941, she married W. B. Ostmeyer at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Angelus Kansas. To this union eight children were born. Regina was a longtime nursery aide at Gove County Medical Center where she truly enjoyed taking care of the newborns and their mothers. In 2013, Regina moved to her independent living apartment in Quinter where she learned to love playing pitch with her many new friends at Long Term Care. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Grinnell, St. Mary's Altar Society, the VFW Auxiliary, and her Tuesday afternoon bridge club. Regina enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing bridge, and knitting afghans for all her children and grandchildren. Her greatest love was her family, especially all her beautiful grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Regina was preceded in death by her husband; son Steve Ostmeyer; granddaughter Christina Ostmeyer; 5 brothers and 5 sisters.
She is survived by her children, Judy (Lawrence) Nieman, Colleen (Randy) Seibel, Audrey Schwarz, Stan (Patrice) Ostmeyer, Sandii Ostmeyer, Mimi (Kevin) Tubbs, Ruthmary (Verl) Muir and Lisa (Doug Bixenman; sister Barbara Franzen; brother Larry Carver, 33 grandchildren, 77 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation is 5-7:00 p.m. Friday, September 21, 2018, at the Immaculate Conception Parish Hall, Grinnell, KS, with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass is 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 22, 2018, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Grinnell.
