Ralph Duane Fischer, 89, of Colby, died Monday, October 7, 2024. He was born in Stover, MO, on September 16, 1935, to Herman and Elda (Alpers) Fischer.
After graduating from high school, Ralph went on to attend Missouri University and started a career selling Veterinary Medical Supplies. He later spent 20 years managing the Colby Visitors Center.
On November 1, 1969, Ralph married Gladys Frese and together they raised four sons. Ralph was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and served the Colby community on various boards, including eight years as the President of the Friends of the Pioneer Memorial Library Board.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; wife Gladys; son Rick (Carol) Fischer and siblings, Merlin Fischer, Eunice Kraxberger and Alquin Fischer.
He is survived by sons, Tom Fischer, of Colby, Bill (Lisa) Fischer, of Wichita, KS, and Tim (Amy) Fischer, Oklahoma City, OK; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
A memorial service will take place at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 28, 2024, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Colby, with burial in Beulah Cemetery, Colby. Memorials may be made to the Kansas District LCMS for the Ash Wednesday offering (to support scholarships and loan repayment grants for church workers) and may be sent in care of Baalmann Mortuary, PO Box 391, Colby, KS 67701.
