Send Flowers Phyllis D. Kriss July 28, 1932 - May 12, 2014 Phyllis Delia (Bedore) Kriss, 81, died Monday, May 12, 2014, at the Citizens Medical Center in Colby. She was born to Phillip and Melvina (Thyfault) Bedore on July 28,1932 in Zurich, Kansas. The family moved to Colby when she was a young child. Phyllis graduated from Colby High School in 1950. She married John D. (Jack) Kriss in August of that year. While in school Phyllis earned several home economics awards and then enjoyed keeping a lovely home for her family. She bowled in several leagues, enjoyed playing bridge, doing crafts, and donating time to church and hospital charities. Her favorite activity was spending time with her grandchildren. After her children were grown she moved to Hays, Kansas where she lived until she broke her hips and returned to Colby where she lived at Deseret H ealth & Rehab until her death. She was preceded in death by her parents, twin sons, three sisters and one brother. Survivors include five children: Ladeska (Decky) Makings of Larned, KS; Melany Shalz and husband Ron of Colby; John Kriss and wife Linda of Tecumseh, KS; Yvonne Baumfalk and husband Gary of Colby; and Kimberly Kriss of Colby. She also leaves fifteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Funeral Mass will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 17, 2014, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Colby with burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m., Friday at Kersenbrock Funeral Chapel in Colby with a vigil/rosary service at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made in her name to Deseret Health & Rehab Center, Colby or CMC Auxillary “Pink Ladies” in care of Kersenbrock Funeral Chapel.
