Phyllis Jean Black, 80, of Edson, KS, died Thursday, December 7, 2023. She was born November 24, 1943, in Larned, KS, to Glenn and Dorothy (Grate) Cooley. Phyllis married Frank Black on December 7, 1963, in Leoti, KS. To this union two kids were born, Pamela and Rick. Phyllis enjoyed being a homemaker and raising the kids. She also worked as an Avon representative. In her free time, she loved to do arts and crafts such as leather work and artex painting. She also enjoyed spending time doing outdoor activities, go-carting and shooting prairie dogs.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; brother Dale and sister Gerri.

She is survived by her husband Frank; daughter Pamela Nudson; son Rick Black; sister Diana Fahrenholtz (Dr. Dan); brother Roger (Toni) Cooley; grandsons, Sean Nudson and Christopher Black; granddaughters, Dezember Black and Charizma Black; great-grandchildren, Zara, Liam, Kyle, Brayden, Macey, Gavin, Anna and Maia; uncle Daryl (Joan) Cooley and cousin Jack (Linda) Cooley.

Funeral service is 10:00 a.m., CDT, Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at Baalmann Mortuary, Colby. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m., CDT at the Leoti Cemetery, Leoti, KS.
