Patty Jo Gensil, 65, of Colby, died Sunday, March 6, 2016 at the Hays Medical Center. She was born on January 29, 1951 to James and Betty (Ramsey) Carney in Colby.
Patty graduated from Colby High School, class of 1970. She completed the Architectural Drafting program at Northwest Kansas Vo-Tech School in Goodland, Kansas. She earned a Nurse’s Aide Certificate.
Her hobbies included riding her three wheeled bicycle around Goodland and reading. She was a Grey Lady Volunteer at the Goodland Hospital. Patty enjoyed participating in activities at the Calvary Gospel Church.
At the Prairie Senior Living Complex, she loved setting the tables for meal time and taking part in special activities. Some of her crafts made there were entered in the County Fair and she proudly showed her ribbons, just like when she was in 4-H as a child. Patty Jo encouraged the children hunting Easter Eggs at PSLC Easter program. She especially liked the Christmas celebrations and church services.
She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Mary Jo Gensil; two brothers, John and Bob Carney.
Survivors include two sons, Michael Gensil, of Colby and Lance Gensil, of Brewster; five siblings, Linda (Gerald) Thiele, of Champaign, IL, Howard (LeAnne) Carney, of Brewster, Ross (Cathy) Carney, of Colby, Ruth Burns, of Kingsland, AR, and Tom (Lisa) Carney, of Sylvan Grove; two grandchildren, Darion Meyer and Tannah Gensil.
