Patsy Kay (Evans) Ziegelmeier, 86, of Colby, Kansas, was born on November 19, 1937, to Bud and Emma Evans who lived on a farm southeast of Reading, Kansas. She went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 12, 2024.
Patsy’s parents moved from the family farm to Colby, KS, when Patsy was in grade school. After graduating from Colby High School, she attended The University of Kansas before becoming a flight attendant for Braniff Airlines. She was later employed at Colby Community College, Colby Public Schools and the Thomas County Register of Deeds Office.
Patsy married Donald Wayne Ziegelmeier in Colby, Kansas, on May 10, 1958, where they raised their family on a farm northeast of Colby. They enjoyed traveling, fishing and entertaining family and friends. She was blessed to have many close friends. Patsy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Hearing the laughter of children was one of her greatest joys.
Patsy had a servant’s heart. After retiring she volunteered at Prairie Senior Living Center, became a “Pink Lady” at Citizens Medical Center and was an active member of P.E.O. She was a kind, sweet, outgoing soul who loved spending time with family and friends. With plenty of laughter, her beautiful smile and good food she delighted in hosting her family at “the farm.” Patsy also loved animals (not necessarily the chickens she raised or Don’s mules), but she adored her beloved miniature schnauzers.
Patsy was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by her brothers, Ron (Sue) and Boyd “Buddy” Evans, daughter Patti and husband Mike Stephens of Oakley and son Lance of Yukon, OK. She is also survived by grandchildren Trent, Matt, Margaret, Kyle, Jordan and Alexis along with great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will take place at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2024, at the Colby United Methodist Church, with inurnment in Beulah Cemetery, Colby.
