Patrick Kania

Patrick J. Kania, age 57 of Newbury, Ohio, passed away Sept. 10, 2016, at his home. Born March 17, 1959 in Warren, OH to Walter and Lorraine (nee: Steiner) Kania, he had been a longtime area resident. Patrick married Joann Nelson on Feb. 21, 1988 in Las Vegas, NV. Pat was an avid Tribe and Browns fan and enjoyed sharing time with his boys watching their football and baseball games, boating and fishing with them. Pat could always be counted on to lend a helping hand, dropping off home grown vegetables and keeping street life interesting. His humor and "Pool Boy" antics will never be forgotten. Pat was an avid NHS sports fan even years after his boys graduated. Mostly, Pat was incredibly proud of Zack's career and Alex's work towards a degree from Hiram.

Survivors include his wife, Joann of Newbury; sons, Michael, of PA, Zachary (Kayla Funk), of Newbury and Alexander (Kristen Verel), of Newbury; mother, Lorraine Kania, of Chester; two siblings, Deborah (Tim) Osborne, of Brooklyn, OH, Renee Kania, of Eastlake and Matthew Kania, of Chester Twp and brothers and sisters-in-law, D.J. Nelson, of Ludell, Shirley (Dale) Vap, of Colby and Jane (Skip) McCain, of Atwood.

He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Kania.

A visitation and funeral took place in Chardon, OH. A Graveside service will be at 3:00 p.m. Friday, November 25, 2016 at Lone Star Cemetery, Rawlins County, KS. For condolences or information visit: www.baalmannmortuary.com
