Ovidio Perez, 70, of Oakley, died Sunday, July 1, 2018. He was born January 21, 1948, in Kenedy, TX, to Rosendo and Tomasa (Zuniga) Perez. Ovidio has worked in grocery stores all of his life. He was a produce manager for many years but he also enjoyed working in the meat market at Heartland Foods in Oakley. Ovidio enjoyed carrying out groceries for customers. On August 20, 1994, he married Glenda (Ritter) Ruby at the High Plains Baptist Church, in Sharon Springs, Ks. Ovidio was a member of the United Christian Church in Oakley. Ovidio enjoyed watching sports. He especially loved the KU Jayhawks and KC Chiefs. Ovidio loved Dr. Pepper and eating at KFC. He loved spending time with his wife, kids and grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a younger brother Cipriano Perez.
He is survived by his wife, Glenda Perez, of Oakley; step-children, Kay Ruby, Linda Ruby and Ron Ruby; son Charles Perez; 8 step grandchildren; 6 step great-grandchildren; brothers, Rosendo Perez, Jr. (Diane), Noe Perez (Cecelia) and Wilfido Perez (Christi); sister Viola Glanville (Harold); and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 5-7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Baalmann Mortuary, Oakley. Funeral Service is 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2018 at the Buffalo Bill Cultural Center, Oakley. Burial will be 2:00 p.m. CST Friday, July 6, 2018 at Sharon Springs Cemetery, Sharon Spring.
