Norma Hynes, 96, of Atwood, passed away peacefully, on Saturday evening, August 15, 2015. Norma Blanche, daughter of Ray Bennett and Maggie McDougal (Haug), was born May 5, 1919 and had an extraordinary life. She was raised on a farm outside of Atwood; traveled around the U.S. with her first husband, Walter W. Lewis in the 1930’s; parented two children, Walter Ray (1939) and Carolyn (1944) and was a grandma to six children, Walter Ray Jr., Susie, Paul, Shan, Aaron and Nayla. She was married to Irv Baker for 9 years and Hal Hynes for 30 years. She “adopted” Hal’s children, Brenda and Nancy and grandchildren, Bob, Laurie and Brian. Her family have fond memories of her willingness to share her love and joy. Her creative efforts resulted in developing a decorating studio – first in Denver and then in Atwood in the 1980’s. Designing beautiful spaces was her passion.
Norma will be missed by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends in Atwood.
Her funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 22, 2015 the United Methodist Church in Atwood, Kansas with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery.
