Natalie Frances Urbom, 98, of Colby, died Friday, July 24, 2015 at Fairview Estates Retirement Community in Colby, KS. She was born June 28, 1917 in Wilmington, DE to Leo and Helen (McCloskey) Cox. On May 3, 1943 Natalie entered the US Army as an Army Nurse Corporal. She married Robert F. Urbom on August 10, 1945 at Holy Rood Church in Swindon, England. They met in the officer’s club at the Station Hospital where she was a first lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps. Natalie was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Colby. Natalie was a Registered Nurse at St. Thomas Hospital in Colby, worked for Drs. Smith and Marshall and then was a student health nurse at Colby Community College. She was a faithful volunteer working with the Red Cross Chapter in Colby for 37 years and Emergency Pregnancy Services.
Natalie was preceded in death by her husband; parents; stepmother, Emma Cox; brothers, Robert Cox and William Cox and sister, Ann Mayo.
She is survived by her son, Thomas John Urbom and friend, Karen Kelsey of St. Louis, MO; Sister, Betty Ganter of Wilmington, DE; as well as nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Visitation will be 5-8:00p.m. Monday, July 27, 2015 at Baalmann Mortuary, Colby with a vigil service at 6:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Colby.
