LOIS NADINE KAMMER Lois Nadine Kammer was born on August 22, 1921, at her family’s farmhouse north of Brewster. She was welcomed into the world by her parents Wilber “Lloyd” Mallory and Carolina “Lina” (Andregg”) Mallory and her older sister, Elma Louise age 2. Nadine’s brother Charles William joined the family in 1925 with Bonnie Del joining the family in 1929. Nadine enjoyed the farm life with the family growing several crops and raising cattle, pigs and chickens. Each family member contributed to the daily chores of their family life. Nadine would help with the ironing clothes, watching her younger siblings, cooking meals for the family, taking eggs, milk, cream and butter to town to sell, and bringing home groceries for the family. Nadine attended Brewster Consolidated Grade School and graduated from Brewster High School in 1939. She was active in school plays and played clarinet in the band. She also was active in 4-H which helped her develop skills in cooking, sewing and crafts. She attended Fort Hayes State College and graduated in a degree in Education in 1943. That same year Nadine started her teaching career in Quinter High School teaching Business Education. Later she continued teaching in Goodland and finally teaching 2nd Grade at Brewster for 27 years. Her teaching career spanned a total of 33 years teaching a lot of children of the kids she taught in the early years. On August 1st, 1951, Nadine married Harold Kenneth Kammer at the Brewster United Methodist Church. Harold was a farmer and they lived on a farm south of Brewster. Harold and Nadine had three children – Della Louise (“Lou”), born July 8, 1952, Charles Lloyd (“Chuck”) born May 26, 1955, and Kenneth Alan, born October 25, 1957. In 1964, the Kammer family moved to Nadine’s family farm north of Brewster where she was born. Nadine lived on the farm until 1995, when she moved to Brewster and built a home. Nadine was preceding in death by her parents, Lloyd and Lina Mallory, her sister, Elma Louise, her husband, Harold Kammer, her brother, Charles Mallory and son, Chuck Kammer.. She is survived by her sister, Bonnie Del & husband Warren Reid, daughter Lou and husband Warren Brown, and son Ken Kammer and Chuck’s wife Patcy Kammer. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
