Myrna Grace Heskett, 96, of Colby (formerly of Oakley), died Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at Prairie Senior Living Center, Colby. She was born Dec 16, 1918 to Ernest and Esther (Benedict) Dunning in Graham County, KS. She graduated from Hill City High School in 1938 and later married Leonard Heskett on Oct 26, 1939 in Hill City, KS. Myrna was very patriotic and enjoyed helping with flag ceremonies, the Run for the Wall and was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. She also was part of the Senior Companion Program through Fort Hays State University, the Retired Senior Volunteer Program and the Oakley United Methodist Church. Her wealth in life was her family and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard; her parents; her oldest son, James; her two brothers and five sisters.
She is survived by her children, Donna (Elmer) Schielke, of Colby, Wayne (Lauren) Heskett, of Wamego, Joe (Rosalee) Heskett, of Colby, Vicki (Joe) Halbleib, of Cimarron and Paul (Jamie) Heskett, of Oakley; two brothers, Gib and Gary Dunning; a sister, Jean Oshel; six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Visitation will be from 5-7:00pm on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at Baalmann Mortuary, Oakley. Funeral service will be 10:00am on Monday, March 23, 2015 at Oakley United Methodist Church.
