Mildred M. Kuhlman, 98, of Oakley, died Thursday, May 4, 2023, at Logan County Hospital with her family by her side.
She was born December 6, 1924, in McCracken, Kansas, to William and Rose (Sweeney) Brenner. She was a Registered Nurse and was enlisted in the Women’s Army Corps at the end of World War II.
Mildred married Henry Marion Kuhlman January 9, 1946, in McCracken, Kansas. To this union eight sons and one daughter were born. Henry and Mildred moved to Oakley in 1954 and farmed. She was an exceptional wife and mother and worked by Henry’s side farming.
Her faith, family, and gathering with the family were her legacy. They helped her through difficult times and heartaches that God handed her. Mildred was always strong and believed it was God’s will that would be done.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Henry; three sons, Vernie, Larry, and Ron; grandson Todd Kuhlman; her parents; five brothers, and one sister. She is survived by sons, Marion (Myrt), Bill (Albie), Bob (Sherri), John (Missy) and Ken (Karen); daughter Rosann (Bob) Blagg; daughters-in-law, Joe (Steve) Badger, Nancy Kuhlman, and Raye Kuhlman; 65 grandchildren; 101 great grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren….and counting; and all those who called her Mama K.
Visitation is 5-7:00 p.m., with a Vigil at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Oakley. Funeral Mass is at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday May 10, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
