Mildred Mary (Heim) Barnett Green, 93, of Colby, died Saturday, November 7, 2020, at the Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center, Sedalia, MO. She was born January 14, 1927, in Leoville, KS, to John and Margaret Heim. Mildred grew up near Dresden, KS and attended a country grade school. She attended High School in Leoville, graduating with the class of 1944. In 1945 Mildred moved to Colby and worked at St. Thomas Hospital. Later she became secretary for Rix Studio and Crawford and Company Insurance Adjusters. She also was manager of the Holiday Store, in Colby, for eight years. In 1946, Mildred married Vernon Barnett. The couple were blessed with Diana and four adopted children, Rick, Gerilyn, Tim and Kevin. Mildred was very proud of her family. She cared for her grandchildren and was quite involved with their activities. Mildred was a member of Sacred Heart Church and its Altar Society. She volunteered her services to many others in the community and enjoyed every moment while doing so. In 2002, Mildred married Gerald Green.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Vernon Barnett and Gerald Green; daughter, Diana Marie; son Rick; brothers, Fr. Cornelius, Julius, Edwin and Alfred and sisters, Leona Zodrow. Lillian Heim, Irene Kruse and Berniece Halle.
Survivors include her sons, Tim (LeiAnn), of Colby and Kevin (Loretta), Colorado Springs, CO; daughter Gerilyn Barnett, Cole Camp, MO; six step- daughters; one step-son; brother Ray Heim; sister Lorene Reinert and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Vigil Service is Thursday, November 12, 2020, at 7:00 p.m., at Baalmann Mortuary, Colby. Funeral Mass is 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 13, 2020 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Colby, with burial in the church cemetery.
