Michael Packard

Michael B. Packard, 70, of Oakley passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2021. He was born on March 31, 1951, in Oakley, Kansas to Floyd and Maxine (Bland) Packard. Mike graduated from Oakley High School in 1969 He then graduated from the N.W. Kansas Vo-Tech School in Goodland, Kansas with an architectural drafting degree in 1971 and the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center, in Yoder, Kansas, in 1977. He was employed by the Oakley Police Dept., worked on multiple local farms, and was an over-the-road truck driver.

Mike’s hobbies included riding horses, bull-riding, spending time with his grandchildren, shooting guns, and hunting. He was a lifetime member of the North American Hunting Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Larry and Randy.

Mike is survived by his children Cheree Swaney (Benny Berry), Nolan Packard (Amara), Kerry Packard, and Kyle Packard; sister Marlene Teeter (Mike); brother Terry Packard (Joni); Uncle Roger Fagan (Dana); eight grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at 2:00 pm at the Gove Community Bible Church, in Gove, Kansas. Memorials may be made to the Butterfield Trail Museum and sent in care of Baalmann Mortuary, PO Box 391, Colby, Kansas 67701. Online condolences: www.baalmannmortuary.com
