Tillie Pitner, 101, of Atwood, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Society in Atwood, KS. She was born March 1, 1914 to Martin and Bertha Sattler Hafner on the family farm south east of Herndon.
She married Roy Yehle after she graduated Fort Hays and to this union one daughter Connie was born. On August 8, 1942 she married Ralph Pitner Sr.
Tillie attended school in Herndon, Oberlin and Fort Hays State University. She taught in country schools in North West Kansas. Tillie worked at Williams Grocery Store, Atwood Cheese Plant, Beardsley COOP and the Atwood Sale Barn. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church the Christian Mothers Alter Society and was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents Martin and Bertha, her Husband Ralph Sr., a daughter Connie (Yehle) Masur Lemon and a sister Verona Harvey.
Tillie is survived by her son Ralph Jr. and wife Shirley of Atwood; 3 grandchildren, Jim Masur of Colorado, David Masur of Florida and Phyllis Cornish of Colorado; niece, Berde David of Kokomo, Ind; 6 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren and many relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 4-7:00 p.m. Friday, June 26, 2015 Baalmann Mortuary, Atwood, with a Vigil Service at 7 pm. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Atwood.
