Obituary: E. MAXINE JONES E. Maxine Jones, 94, passed away Thursday, November 12, 2015 at the Citizen’s Medical Center in Colby, Kansas. She was born November 7, 1921 at the family farm home located near Brownville in rural Thomas County to Thomas Cleveland and Mary Blanche Hively. On June 7, 1941, Maxine was united in marriage to Wilson D. “Bud” Jones. Four Children were born to this union; Harold D. “Dave” Jones from Garden City, Kansas, Thomas W. Jones from Colby, Kansas and Brenda L. Jones from Johnstown, Nebraska, and Robert O. Jones who died as an infant in 1955. Bud died in 1997. Preceded in death were her parents and three siblings; a brother Albert Hively, Goodland, Kansas and sisters Esther Smith, Lexington, Nebraska and Flossie Haines, Wasco, Oregon. A sister, Zina Nelsen from Larned, Kansas, survives. Also surviving her are 10 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and one very special friend and next-door neighbor, Jody Hartwell. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Monday, November 16, 2015 by the Reverend James Mardock at the Colby United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Beulah Cemetery in Colby. Memorials are suggested to the Colby United Methodist Church and may be sent to Kersenbrock Funeral Chapel.
