Max Gene Vaughn, 86, of Colby, passed away August 7, 2021, at Citizens Medical Center, in Colby, KS. Max was born January 11, 1935, in Selden, KS, to Ted and Myrtle (Brown) Vaughn.
Max spent two years in the United States Army. After that, he was self-employed, custom harvesting, running a dirt construction business and trucking. He was very creative, could fix anything and did all this own repairs. Max enjoyed car racing, in his younger days, as a driver, and later, as a spectator in the grandstands. Max was a self-taught musician. He particularly enjoyed the “Old Country Music.” He played guitar in several bands, including “Rambling Andy” and “Off Limits”, and played dances and at the local nursing homes. Max was such a people person, and he loved his coffee. He could always be found at the local coffee shops entertaining others with his witty sense of humor. Max married Beverly Bonner on September 6, 1984, in Hot Springs, SD.
Max was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Dean, Donald and Clarence and sisters, Myrna, Clara and Doris.
He is survived by his wife Bev, of Colby; daughter LaDonna (Joe) Newman, of Hoxie, KS; son Rick (Kathy) Vaughn, of Colby, KS; 5 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
