Mary Annette (Pence) Nelson Mary Annette (Penoe) Nelsorq the second child of six children was born on January 15, 1929 to Homer and Ruth (Ryman) Pence on the family farm in Clinton Township in Southern Rawlins County. She died on April 30, 2015 at her home in Colby, Kansas at the age of 86. Rawlins County Shawnee # 90 and the Chardon Grade School were where Mary received her flrst 8 years of schooling. Upon completion of country school she attended Colby High School graduating with the class of 1946. After graduation she attended Secretarial School in Kansas City, Kansas. On December 3, 1942 during Mary's Freshman year in High School, triplet siblings Lorraine, Loretta, and Laurence were born into the family joining Mary, her older sister Helen and younger brother Allan. M. Dale Nelson and Mary Annette Pence were united in marriage April 17, 1949 at the Methodist Church in Colby, Kansas. They made their home on the Nelson family farm where Dale was born and raised. Three children, Marilyn Ruth, Paul Terrence, and Marvin Dale blessed their home. Mary's deep love for her Lord and Saviour, Family and Friends, and being a devoted homemaker was evident in her daily life. Family gatherings, sewing for the family and home, entertaining with home cooked meals, gardening, and trying new recipes were what she enjoyed and daily-thanked God for. Mary joins her husband M. Dale; son Marvin; son-in-law James Shriver; sisters Helen and (LaVern) Anderson, and Loretta Rikoff; and parents Homer and Ruth Pence in death. Family members cherishing the love and wonderful memories are: daughter Marilyn and (Mark) Landen; son Paul and (Sheryl) Nelson; Karen Nelson, Ivette Nelson; 13 grandchildren, Jessica, Amanda, Jamie, Shelby, Sherie, Sharlene, Sharla, Shandee, Sheldon, Shantell, Brant, Brady, and Colton; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 great-greatgrandchildren; sister Lorraine and (Jim) Bliss and family; brothers Allan and (Lois) Pence and family, and Laurence and (Bonnie) Pence; brother-in-law William Rikoff and family; and many other relatives, friends, and neighbors.
