Mary Cech

Mary Ruth Cech, 60, of Colby, died July 16, 2012, in Hays, KS. She was born January 19, 1952 to Charles and Eileen Tauscher Cech in Oakley, Kansas. She started working for Thomas County in 1978 and in 1984 started as the Thomas County Appraisers serving 28 years. She was active with Kansas State Real Estate Appraisal Board, Kansas County Appraisal Association, North West County Appraisers Association, Certified Kansas Appraiser, American Legion Auxiliary and Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, John Cech and David Cech.
She is survived by significant other Dennis Hayes, a sister, Barbara Cech of Lincoln, NE; two brothers, Joseph Cech (Jean) of Goodland, and Jim Cech (Lisa) of Hays; two step children, Dawn Nesheim, of Denver, Matt Hays (Wendy) of TN; an aunt, Carol Durham (Bob); an uncle, Dale Domeney; five step grandchildren, Colin, Elle, Connor, Hannah and Adain; seven nieces and nephews
Cremation was chosen. Door will open at 2:00 p.m. and family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, July 22, 2012, at Baalmann Mortuary, 190 South Franklin, Colby, KS 67701. Memorial Service will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 23, 2012, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Colby. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Wounded Warrior project in care of Baalmann Mortuary, PO Box 391, Colby, KS 67701.
