Mary Ann Holle was born on the Focke Farm north of Ludell, KS, on November 29, 1932. She was the second daughter of four girls born to John Focke Jr. and Anna (Wicke) Focke. Mary Ann died on December 15, 2020, at the Rawlins County Health Center, in Atwood, KS. Mary Ann was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, North of Ludell, KS. She attended Trinity Lutheran Parochial School and later graduated from Atwood High School in 1951. Mary Ann moved to Denver, Colorado and worked for the Children’s Hospital. She also lived in Colorado Springs for a period of time. Mary Ann married Marvin Holle in November of 1959. They made their home on the Holle Farm east of Atwood, where they were engaged in farming and ranching. Mary Ann also worked at the Rawlins County Hospital for several years as a receptionist. Mary Ann was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and was a member of the LWML. She was on the Rawlins County Cancer board for several years.
After Marvin passed away in April of 2016, Mary Ann moved to their house in Atwood and with the good help and friendship of Deb Rummel, was able to live at her own home until August of 2019, when she became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society Home, in Atwood.
Mary Ann is survived by her sister Carol Hestermann, of Atwood; nephews and nieces, Mike (Cindy) Hestermann, Michelle Stevens, David (Deanne) Hestermann, Dianne (Allan) Vap, Marci Bucklaew, John (Judi) Suhr, Keri Suhr, Dana (Jeff) Higham, Cindy (Dan) Beichley, Sylvia (Marc) Walker, Loretta (Rob) Mcfee, Harlan (Ruth) Holste, Lois Schartz, Marilyn (Bill) Fehringer, Keith (Penny) Holste, Jane (Toby) Barnes, Ruth (Dave) Droegemueller, Dwight (Cindy) Holste, Craig (Laurie) Holste, Bryce Niermeier, Eloyse Holle Spencer, and several great nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
A Funeral Service will take place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 19, 2020 at the Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church, Atwood, with visitation starting at 9:30 a.m. Interment will take place in Fairview Cemetery, Atwood. Thank you to the Doctors, Nurses, CNAs, Radiology, Physical Therapy, Dietary and Housekeeping staff at the Rawlins County Hospital for their excellent care and compassion. Also, we would like to thank the Nurses, CNAs, Physical and Occupational therapists and dietary staff for their patience and understanding and excellent care that Mary Ann received while a resident of the Good Samaritan Home.
