MARVIN OWEN GILKERSON Marvin Owen Gilkerson, 70, formerly of Colby, Kansas, died November 7, 2015, at Kansas Soldiers Home, Fort Dodge, KS. Marvin was born July 22, 1945, in Colby, KS to Othal and Lavina (Herdt) Gilkerson. Marvin married Judith Johnson on December 12, 1965, Grainfield, KS and was blessed with one daughter, Loriell. He married Jacqueline (Delzeit) Cersovsky on October 15, 1983, Colby, KS. Marvin and his ten siblings grew up on a farm near Oakley, KS, before moving in to town where his parents ran a local grocery store for several years. Marvin was a graduate of Oakley High School in 1963. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in the United States Army, Corps of Engineers, from 1965-1967 and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He drove for Mitten Trucking, Oakley, before going to work at KN Energy in Colby for many years before retiring due to health reasons. He was a volunteer on the Oakley and Colby Fire Departments. He enjoyed being a constituent of the Black Powder Club. He also enjoyed skiing and hunting. Survivors include his daughter, Loriell Gilkerson, and five step-children; John Cersovsky and wife Jennie, Colby; Teresa Loughran, Colorado Springs, CO; Cindy Beisner and husband Dale, Natoma, KS; Don Cersovsky and wife Bridget, Amarillo, TX; and Jerry Cersovsky and fiancé Pam Moore, Johnson City, KS. Three grandchildren; Brooke, Isabella, and Noeh, Gardner, Kansas. Fourteen step-grandchildren; Randy (Maranda) Cersovsky, Scott City, KS; Anita (Nabeel) Khokhar, Hutchinson, KS; Sarah (Mark) McArthur, Cleveland, OK; Eric Cersovsky, Topeka, KS; Trent Briney, Parker, CO; Tina (Mike) Kepenach, and Tara Briney, Colorado Springs, CO; Kelsey Beisner, Hill City, KS; Aimee (Chris) Kocinski, Puyallup, WA; Jason (Chelsea) Beisner, Leoti, KS; Bonnie (James) Brungardt, Victoria, KS; Felicia Kinnaman, Salina, KS; Savannah Clapper, Colby; and Donnie Clapper, Mesa, AZ. Twenty-two step-great grandchildren; Hannah, Noah and Christian Khokhar, Hutchinson, KS; Cale, Caden, Colter and Chisolm McArthur, Cleveland, OK; Landon and Ana Cersovsky, Scott City, KS; Bryant Brazil, Colorado Springs, CO; Brianne Kocinski, Puyallup, WA; Jaylee and Clowie Beisner, Leoti, KS; Jimmy, Eric and Cooper Brungardt, Victoria, KS; Colby and Caleb Laugess, Salina, KS; Landon Clapper, Aiden Valencia and Trinity Hancock, Colby; and Madison Clapper, Mesa, AZ. From his second marriage his sister-in-laws and brother in-laws; Patty Ann Casey, Dodge City, KS; Linda (Leland) Lunsway, LaMesa, CA; Gary Delzeit, Dodge City, KS; and Terry (Karen) Delzeit, Austin, TX. He was proceeded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Geneva Rae Gilkerson; his wife, Jacqueline Gilkerson; brother-in-law’s Ron Reed and Leonard (Corky) Delzeit; and one step-grandson, Eric McDonald. Marvin was loved by many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 11 at Kersenbrock Funeral Chapel in Colby. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 12, 2015, at Kersenbrock Funeral Chapel, Colby. Interment will follow at Oakley Cemetery, Oakley.
